About the Artwork
"Germinative AI" is an immersive artwork, which examines how artificial intelligence can be part of a creative process. Inspired by my love for nature and botany, I begin with a seed. In nature, the seed contains all the information needed to grow a plant. As comparison, the "seed" in Generative AI, is the creation's ID, it has a significant impact on the end result. The first step was asking MidJourney to describe a real seed that I uploaded using the "describe" command. MidJourney then created an imaginary seed based on it's own description. I took the newly generated seed and uploaded it to ChatGPT, asking it to describe "what kind of plant will grow from this imaginary seed?" ChatGPT provided a detailed description of the imaginary plant. I then copied this description and used it as a prompt in MidJourney to create my new plant. The result is a beautiful surprising new plant. This artwork demonstrates the integration of different AI platforms, combining the visual and aesthetic strengths of MidJourney with the linguistic and descriptive abilities of ChatGPT. The hybrid approach enhances the creative process, showcasing beauty at each stage -from the seed, through the prompt, to the final result. The immersive experience is showing the AI's creation process and and giving the viewers a unique experience of standing amongst an imaginary vibrant botanic garden.

עבודה זו נעשתה מתוך אהבה לעולם הטבע והבוטניקה. נקודת המוצא שלי היא שימוש בזרע כטריגר ליצירה. הזרע בטבע מכיל בתוכו את כל האינפורמציה הדרושה בשביל ליצור את הצמח. אני לוקחת את העיקרון הזה ומיישמת אותו בבינה המלאכותית. תהליך היצירה בבינה המלאכותית שונה מזו של הטבע ואני רוצה להמחיש זאת לצופים מזווית מפתיעה ומסקרנת. יצירה זו היא ניסוי שבא לבדוק כיצד הבינה יכולה ליצור באופן עצמאי מבלי שהזנתי פרומפטים. המעורבות שלי היא מינימלית. אני מטמיעה זרע פיזי הלקוח מן הטבע אל תוך טכנולוגיית הבינה המלאכותית, ונותנת לבינה המלאכותית להצמיח באמצעותו צמחים / פרחים / פירות חדשים. באמצעות ניסוי זה, אני רוצה שהצופים יצליחו לחוות את ה- AI ולהבין אותה יותר טוב. ניסוי זה מציג דיאלוג בין המימד הפיזי לבין המימד המטאפיזי, הדיגיטלי, של הבינה המלאכותית. הניסוי מדגיש כיצד ניתן לשלב בין פלטפורמות AI שונות, תוך מינוף החוזק של כל אחת מהן. היכולות של Midjourney בפרטים חזותיים ואסתטיקה משלימה את היכולות הלשוניות והתיאוריות של ChatGPT, ומראה כיצד גישות היברידיות יכולות לשפר פרויקטים יצירתיים. העבודה מציגה את כל שלבי היצירה, תוך הצגת היופי בכל שלב- החל מהזרע, דרך הופעת הפרומפט, ועד לתוצאה הסופית - קולקציה של צמחים פרחים ופירות בצבעים מרהיבים, הדומים לטבע אך גם מחדשים ומפתיעים בשונות שלהם.

Tal Wagner is a multidisciplinary designer and emerging digital artist whose practice bridges graphic design, visual communication, and contemporary digital art. With a foundation in design, she has spent years shaping brands, building digital experiences, and refining visual clarity.
Her transition into digital art was a natural evolution, prompted by the arrival of AI technologies that opened a space where her interests in nature, philosophy, biology, and technology converge. She explores the poetic tension between the natural and the synthetic, the designed and the emergent, regarding AI not merely as a tool but as a creative partner that introduces chance, distortion, and unexpected beauty.
Through this dialogue with technology, her work imagines speculative forms, raises new questions, and blurs the boundaries between what is made, grown, and generated.
